Hey

I have searched for a fix to this and it seems to have afeected various cars wih various solutions.

You know the problem, 1st thing in the morning the car starts perfectly. Drive till the engine warms up, then start again and it will take longer to get the car started!!!

So I was wondering how much does it cost to get the starter
motor refurbished?? Every garage I go to say they dont do it.

Update: No mechanic seems to have a clue whats wrong? Reconditioned one is £90 and a brand new one is £140.

I had it diagnosed and no faults came up?!?

Some are telling me it is temp sensor or crank sensor or battery etc etc

Anyone having similar problems??

I can sympathise. I've got starting problems on my Bora TDI, especially when the engine is hot. Again, nobody has really got a firm idea what's up with it. Seems it could be one of a number of things, but will cost 100's in a process of blind elimination.

Latest suggestion has been injector seals.

searching the forums shows that people who have replaced the starter have had the problem solved.

I think I will change the starter motor next week at a specialist for £120 and hope for the best...

i have the same problem mate, the garage i work for can get starters refurbed but tbh the difference in price between a recon and new its not worth getting it recond, post up how you get on mate, if it sorts yours i may buy a new one for mine

hi, i paid £35 to get mine done, although hes a good friend of my uncles so this probably helped when it came to the price.it made my car start 10times better than it was before.it was a bit sluggish to start when hot the first time i put it on but its bedded in now an its acceptable.

I toolk it to a guy that refubishses starter to get it changed and he told
me not to!!

He said the the problem didnt "sound" like a faulty starter so he tol me
to get it checked first.

these mechanics...

I will take it next week to get it checked.
