Hi I have posted various questions about Mk5 alarms with little or no response, has anyone managed to get a Mk5 alarm removed or disconnected by a dealer? mines running out of warranty and still doesn't function correctly. Every time it is repaired it "was a different fault to last time".
My options are extend the warranty, get it taken off, or sell the car, which is why I have this one because my 2 previous Passats were rubbish as well.
I'm now considering using a bike for work as it will be more reliable :aargh4:

have you tried using an independant garage? are scanner at work can go into the alarm system and read fault codes, it may be worth a try bud

As far as I know the alarm cannot be shut down because it is built into the central convenience system, which controls windows, locks etc. What is the problem with it? Does it keep going off? It may be possible to shut it down by altering the long coding value but it is not something I have ever looked into.

Thanks for your replies, sorry I've been away for a couple of days. Crasher the problem is the alarm triggers at random intervals which means when the dealer has it they keep the car for days on end waiting for it to go off. One time they had it for 4 weeks and said it was fixed, and went off when it got home!
It's had 2 convenience modules, door catch, boot catch, ign lock, wiring repairs, so on, so on. each time they say it was a different fault? It sounds to me that I'm to expect this for the forseeable future, until the warranty runs out!:( according to the dealer VW are not very helpful.

They can see what was the last trigger from the convenience unit last trigger data.

I've had the car scanned by an independant and there appears to be some strange results. No fault codes logged, but on monitoring the doors are coded the same at the back and different on each side at the front. when monitoring the o/s/r door it never shows it opening and says it's the n/s/r door opening.
The o/s/f door handle illumination is not activated (others are).
Door module ID no's are different but o/s/f door is #3 n/s/f door is #4 and both rear doors are #1 ?
