Some might find this useful, some might think I should have gone down the pub tonight instead?

Anyway, here are some links for tracking your new vehicle in to the country via a car vessel...

I was told that my car was at port waiting to board a car vessel. Now by process of elimination I believe my car went from Bremerhaven to Southampton.
Other destinations may include Emden to Grimsby for example.

Here is a live ship map site!

Here is a ship port arrival site!

A bit of fun or a bit of lunacy?!

Marine traffic site is good fun.
Off Lowestoft is one of the only licensed points for oil distribution between vessels in the UK.
At night it looks like a town out at sea. The site is good for checking them out.
I also have a mate with a cruiser which is registered with the site. Good see what he is upto up north.

Thanks for this, I must be as sad as you but I blame Audi for turning us into anoraks by making us wait so long for our cars.

I had thought my car was being delivred to Tyne but it looks like it might have been on the Neckar Highway which arrived in Grimsby from Emden last night.

I tracked it the last few miles and even have a picture of the ship :o

I notice it's Cypriot flagged, last time I shipped my car from Cyprus to the UK they robbed all my CDs from the CD changer.

I'm glad it was of some use and I'm not the only anorak around here at the moment!

certacito & dan172 were you both build week 28? They got your cars on a boat pretty quickly then?

Not sure about when or if it actually got on a ship but mine was build week 28 and I was notified that it was at Emden on the Thurday of the build week.

Audi have said that all their systems are still down for the upgrade until the 26th July so they are unable to give any further info on shipping etc. I knew mine was going to Tyne and monitored all the vehicle carriers from Emden to Tyne to work out which one was carrying my car.

I was surprised at how quickly it went from build week to port, four days in my case.

I presume the cars are still moving around it's just that they can't track them at customer services?

Good question.

I see that the ships are still leaving Emden but they might just be carrying VWs as their Passat plant is located there.

The system outage might explain why Audi didn't think they could meet my 30th Jul collection even though my car was at the port on the 15th July.

Maybe they are all in limbo until the 26th

Mine was build week 26 (w/c 28/06/10). I was informed it was ready to board a vessel on the 5th July.

I chased mine up today thinking it must have been delivered by now. Only to find out that it hasn't been delivered and nobody knows where it is due to the computer system...

Heritage Salisbury have their system go live tomorrow apparently. I am expecting a call in the morning with an update.

The sales guy has said that he thinks that no cars have moved anywhere due to the system being changed. He wasn't sure on that though and got sheepish when I reminded him that he told me my car was ready at the port on the 5th July...

I'll see what he says tomorrow and report back of course...

*I just know that there will be teething problems with this "new" system and that my car has been delivered to... Africa*

"10 week lead time Dan, we have a manufacturing slot, pay your deposit please..." - Yeah right!!

I have an A4 Avant 170PS Quattro s line SE on order (ordered 23 March). Seeing this post yesterday I chased Bath Audi today and after some jiggery pokery on their part they got the new Audi UK system working and found my vehicle on it. It's arrived in the UK, still at port, and will be transported to them by Tuesday next week. The sales guy also commented that a lorry of new cars had arrived today so cars were now moving between port and dealerships. Friday 30th set up for delivery to me.

Have you guys got a delivery date yet?

Well you have had a long wait! I thought and felt hard done by with my end of March early April order!

I also spoke with with Heritage/Salisbury Audi tonight and was told that my car will be delivered to them on the 30th. The Sales guy then wen on to tell me that it would be ready by Wednesday 4th August. This was due to the fact that Salisbury/Heritage Audi are having a new place built (times must be good after all?!), my car needs to go to Westbury Audi to have it's prep done etc etc... After that I could pick it up.

So the 4th August it is... Or is it?

I actually told the Salesman what I thought at that point. I'm usually a happy-go-lucky bloke who puts up with some **** for an easy life.
Love Audi, feel really let down by their below par service.

Am not happy with the quoted 10 week delivery and now it could be 17.5 weeks!

I paced my deposit in March/confirmed early April and was shown the manufacturing slot on the PC to boot...
I sold my other Audi about three weeks ago in preparation for this delivery.
My car was at port for delivery to the UK on the 5th July.
I have been over charged for the car (although will receive a cheque on delivery to sort this, was charged for rear parking sensors!).

So,,

I either want a "cover car" to see me through as I've borrowed a car that now needs to go back. (hold on)...
I want to take delivery in September with a "60" plate. Cover car included.
Or
I take the car when it arrives and have some sort of compensation (first service) instead.

I've left it with them tonight...

I also through in that BMW have a 6 week lead time for a 3 series tourer (I very much doubt I'd go this route but, you know.)
Two months late.
Little communication.
Disappointed and it had removed the "gloss" from the "prestige" of a new car and number plate.

The salesman told me "I am on your side"!

*Thanks for listening/reading - I'm irritated by this now*

I think that we've had quite similar experiences from Audi and dealership.

I too was contemplating the BMW 3 series, 320d Tourer M Sport Executive, but was persuaded to stay loyal to Audi.

I raised my concerns at the delivery delay, promised for end May, some time ago and to give them credit they have supplied me with a courtesy A4 Avant SE (59 plate) to avoid further expense to me (4 new tyres, service etc.) on my previous A4.

I shall push them for a goodwill gesture when I am poised to sign on the dotted line next week. I have my eye on one of those nice team s line coats.

You're right, when spending £30k+, you expect exceptional customer service.

It does suck really that the deposit is paid and we're held by the short and curlys. Oh well the joys of a new car, eh?

You're a *bad robot*! I hadn't thought of a S-Line coat as well! Nice.

Well, it's amazing what a frustration phone call does!

Firstly, the car is being delivered to the dealership now on Monday and not Friday, amazing.

Secondly, the car HAS to be delivered by the end of the month for the finance?

Thirdly, the dealership can't give me the first service free.

Fourth, the dealership are going to through in the Autoglym polish (Lifefinish?) – Should I let this happen as the general concensis is that it’s poor to say the least. Is this due the price they charge so for free it’s worthwhile?

Fifth, I can pick up the car on Friday… (won’t hold my breath).

:(

Audi customer services weren't able to update me yesterday as "they didn't know if the computers were working" - hmmmm. I think I'll wait until next week now to find out that my car still hasn't been built yet!

That sounds so frustrating, can you contact them on Friday? It does seem like different dealerships have different dates for the system going online.

Are they meant to be back to normal on Fri then?

I hope you're getting your mits on yours then? Any sign of it at the dealership?!

Sorry, my bad.
They are on line and back to normal now in Salisbury I understand. (Well, they must be as they gave my registration and asked me to get the complimentary insurance so they can Tax it.)

I merely meant chase them up again before the weekend to get the latest information from them. I hate not being in control of things like this and could not go the weekend without at least trying again!

My car is at the Westbury dealership by all accounts, having its PDI and last bits done I presume, including the Lifeshine treatment which I am not sure what to think of... Obviously not worth the £350 quoted by the Salesman, but it's free... I bet there is some spotty oik on his school holidays polishing and droping the cloth on the floor etc... :cussing:
I'm picking up on Friday afternoon though...

My car 'landed' at Bath Audi this afternoon having arrived in the UK last Friday. I've sorted the complementary insurance and will be taking delivery on Friday morning. I'm not sure if the system is fully up across all dealerships as I know initially Bath Audi were having to use Bristol Audi to get updates on specific vehicles.

Just out of curiosity, I see you've had a succession of Avants. I take it you've been upgrading regularly with the same dealer? Do you get the same finance deal each time i.e. are they keeping your repayments the same etc?
Thanks.

Glad things are moving along for you guys. I'm still in the dark as UK customer services are seemingly no longer able to update customers on comms numbers. Apparently this is a recent change following a computer system upgrade... ho hum.

Bruboy, unless the car is on the boat (which obviously AUDI would know about?) Audi UK seem to have always had difficulty with that bit!! They should be able to track your car, new computer system or not! If your dealership are having difficulty in answering your questions then up the Anti!! ie. pointed questions = presents.

Can not tell me where the car is = roof rack. (Day one)

Can not tell me where the car is= Rear entertainment package (Day Two)

Etc Etc. (A bit unrealistic! But do not ask do not get:confused:)

Anyway Good luck,as I would say the car is worth the wait, it is just one piece that AUDI (UK) are falling down on, they can sell cars NO PROBS! But the ******** factor of getting them to the buyer lets them down:(.

OK, actual progress. An email out of the blue from the dealership (I'm getting the car through a leasing company so information has been hard to come by) to tell me that the "[car] is showing as built, released from factory and awaiting ship to UK".

Wow - I am speechless. Any idea how long to run now guys? Perhaps I won't be getting that free roof rack after all Bratty...

Thanks.

I approach each purchase separately and have no particular loyalty to a dealership. In fact each car has been purchased from a different dealership, although since then two have merged to be owned by the same parent group. As such the finance arrangement has been different for each car. If it helps I shall explain my approach this time.

Given that the two local Audi dealerships are owned by the same parent company, trying to play one off against the other wouldn't work for me.

1) I went on-line to get a number of quotes for my chosen A4 spec vehicle
2) I then went on-line and found the lowest APR loan and got that approved in principle
2) Then I went to the BMW dealer, spec'd a 320d Tourer M Sport Executive and haggled their best deal, car and finance, using my on-line quotes as leverage. I made it known that I would be signing on the dotted line that day with somebody or another
3) Went to the local Audi dealership, got them to spec the car I wanted, produced my evidence of the deals I could get elsewhere for the car and finance (on-line and at BMW) and asked them to win my order. Which they did.

This approach seemed to work reasonably well, no doubt others can do better, but generally I'm pleased that I got a decent deal from this approach. I have still learnt a few new things which I shall use next time around.

As with most things, do your ground work beforehand and it shall pay dividends.

Neil

Well, after nearly 19 weeks waiting the day finally arrived to pick it up. 10am at the dealership and all went smoothly, nice bottle of champagne and an Audi pen gift set too. My 10yo son and myself went out for a spin instead of heading straight home, unfortunately that involved a large stone hitting the bumper, light and lip of bonnet. That first stone chip had to happen at some time, just wish it wasn't so soon.

Here's a couple of pics of it back at home. It's a Lava Grey s-line limited edition 170ps Quattro. Extras include: rear side blinds, rear side airbags, Tech Pack High (HDD Sat Nav, Parking Plus, AMI) phone prep low, tyre pressure warning, electric folding mirrors, silver stitching (which looks great).

I've already loaded just over 1,000 music tracks to the HDD. B&O sound system is superb.

I have to take the kids up to their grandparents this evening, the return journey should be fun (legally fun).

dan172,

Over the weekend I've clocked about 400 miles or so. It's been fun but obviously spared the horses a little. This evening I drove for 2 hours on A roads with mixed driving and with MPG showing as 47.8 for the journey. Got just below this earlier in the day when cruising down the A303 with the cruise control set at 70mph. Filled up with fuel and covered my trousers in diesel, the mis-fueller seems to be a pain creating too much pressure when fuelling and causing the hose to cut frequently.

The ride quality is excellent as is the delivery of power. Haven't put it around a roundabout too fast yet nor been on any twisting turning fast roads. That fun will have to wait for another day.

How are you getting on with yours?

How are you getting on with yours?

Wow! I've done a tenth of that, I know that's poor on my behalf!
In that time I've done some driving at 73MPH with cruise control and seen good results especially from a cold engine... I have to travel along the A303 to work. Also seen that with a heavy toe the fuel economy isn't too bad.

I too can't fault the ride quality, I was really unsure to how that would pan out, no issues though. The car feels like it's painted to the road to be frank. I have been on some rough old town roundabouts as well. The traction is superb the pose is purposeful Love it.

I think the sound from the B&O is also better than I expected, although I wonder if there'd have been any difference in having the Symphony and not just the Concert system? It is good enough for me though, quiet or loud...

It already needs a wash but I'm to chicken to get out there and do it as my neighbours have all commented on how nice it is and I don't want to seem as if I have OCD! But I might just have : S

If you're ever in the Amesbury area on the A303 then feel free to pop by and say hello! I could always meet at the service station for example?

Lastly the manual says not to take the revs above 2K for 1000km! The car feels like it needs to opened up, not just feathering it around.
