my oil sensor warning light comes on when i put key on (all lights on dash) without starting the engine but goes off when engines started, checked oil level and thats fine, the previous owner changed the sump..... any ideas?

also recently noticed it takes a few turns to turn over and when the engine is started it blows a cloud of blue smoke out the back..... once started its fine and if engines turned off it restarts fine with no smoke... any ideas

cars a 1.9 tdi 110bhp.

thanks

so when you put the ignition on all the lights come up on the dash and when you crank the engine over everything goes off? thats normal...

you should worry when the light stays on when the engine is running

as for the starting problem how cold is it when you try to start it? it sounds like glow plugs to me.

*or*
i missed off alot of things of the list of the cold start problems

Poor starting:
Tandem pump
Fuel supply pipes (fuel injector junctions)
Fuel return valves
Fuel bleed valve
Tank lift pump
air in fuel system....lots of things!

there is a warning beep and it says oil sensor workshop, this beeps when u first start the car then doesnt come back on till you switch of and restart...

secondly its not that cold, its been 16-21 degrees... its only been doing this for about a week after the n75 valve was changed...

how long since the oil was changed?
you have sensors for both level, and oil condition, i believe, though i'm not sure of what warning would be displayed for either.

stewy.

the last owner told me the oil was changed about 1000 miles ago when he changed the sump, but not sure if i believe him as the oil is black... the SH shows oil was changed about 4k miles ago prior to this...

any idea about the cold start problem? once its started you can turn it off and on without an issue, it just takes about 2-3 attempts to start each morning.
the battery is fine and it drives ok.

also it stutters on cold start up, takes a few attempts to start, any ideas??

Had this earlier this year on 1.6 golf, ' oil sensor workshop' when I start up then goes away, turned out the sensor was faulty (told fairly common), cost about £60 plus labour to change

mine turned out to be related to the AC
my pressure switch burst
i replaced it
regassed ac system
replaced fuse 5
all worked well, cleared the fault
oil sensor warning went

you'd best check ur ac is working properly

complete fault scan would be a good start.......

Decode it out of dash panel if you are sure that your oil level is correct
