2004 1.6 fsi-non start after new speedo cluster

Hi,can anyone help?? I have just bought a 04 reg mk5 golf 1.6 fsi.I have changed the speedo cluster due to a fault but now the car starts ,nust for a second or two,and then turns off.Was running perfect prior.Any suggetsions?

Yes the cluster is part of the immobiliser system, you can't just swap them like that, you'll need to have them coded in. If you put the old one back in then it should start.
