I fitted the following HID lighting kit today:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160122396985&rd=1&rd=1

The kit came with a battery wiring harness where you connect the ballasts directly to the battery and one connector off it goes to one of the original headlight harnesses. The xenons light up no bother but the ECU/Computer soon starts to complain that both the LHS and RHS dipped beam are blown - which they obviously aren't.

Has anyone else come across this problem if so, how did you fix it?

Note: The seller has kindly offered me a full refund but with having already drilled through the covers to fit the grommets etc i'm reluctant to send them back. Not to mention a blown bulb instigated all this so I only have one working halogen bulb to hand :(

I had the car connected up to vagcom, setting the headlights to xenon just casued the alarm to go off everytime you turned the ignition instead of just when you turned on the lights.

The computer detects the resistance of what is on the lighting loom and because there is nothing connected on the drivers side and only a relay on the passenger it thinks there are no lights installed.

I've emailed the guy above about his resistor kit so we'll see if it's actual cables that run from ballast or just a set or resistors.

Cheers,

Colin

the resistor fix from the above seller did the trick.

Its 2 power cables that go from the original light plug straight to the ballast and at that side it has 2 resistors to fake a halogen bulb. So it's all working now :)

Now all that's left to be done is cruise control which is being professionally installed next week for £275 woop
