Hey folks, Im completely brand new to using forums and am seeking urgent advice.
I have a 93 model VW polo which in my opinion has come to the end of its running life but I have heard that it is common that other old car keepers often use these donor vehicles for parts. How do you generally go about finding these people and also is it common that similar minded people may take something like this for a restoration project?
I hope theres someone who can help me with this
Kind regards
Jiji

welcome the the forum. i would just bang it on ebay. your car isnt exactly classed as a classic yet, but i am sure someone might appreciate it.

normally you join a forum, become an active member and then put up a classifieds advert :)
what model's the polo? Coupé or Bread?
and what trim? something like a genesis or GT will fetch a few more quid than, for example, the fox.

its a 93 polo fox coupe
I thought the most likely senario is that its parts get sold off to someone doing a resoration??

sadly, chassis aren't the traded commodity on these cars, the shells and engines are the most valuable thing to come out of them.
Next thing are interior trim items, but the Fox was pretty spartan.
what sort of mileage has the engine done and is it the 1.0 or the 1.3?

its done over 20000 and is the 1l engine.
Think the alternator has a loose connection and has started shorting out in the last few days!
Everything is in reasonable nick, theres very little rust on the body although is in need of a paint job. The exhaust aced its last emissions test but the rubbers holding it on are shot.
Internally, everything is as it was when I got it including the original radio but the passenger seat has had loads of spillages.
Its so frustrating, its a great little runner I just dont have the time to fix up the little 'buts' anymore. I just have no idea how to track down someone who does have the time and would love it. I've accepted that its probably time to sell for scrap but my hubby, ever the mechanic, is having a hard time letting go!

sadly with 200k on it and the interior being poverty spec, it's probably worth little more than scrap.
I tore a fox apart a few months ago, mainly for it's engine and box, but they're just not worth anything otherwise.
if it were a G40 on the other hand.... :approve:

actually I find that completely unhelpful as well as sarcastic.
I don't appreciate it why anyone would think sarcasm is an appropriate tone to take with a complete stranger baffles me.
To my more helpful commenter, Ive just stuck it on ebay and if it doesnt sell for the reserve, which is the scrap price, Im just going to pop it off to the heaven for rusty old cars... haha!

I believe it was a joke and be it a stranger or not, you'll find you get treated all the same.
to avoid any further offense, I'll close the thread, good luck selling the car
