Hi all,

I have a problem with ( i think) the maf on my 2002 A6 1.9 tdi (130) AWX

The turbo started to not come on as usual ( around 1800 revs ), and when it did it come on, it was higher up the rev range, from 2500 revs onwards. I had it scanned and there were no fault codes. so after reviewing the posts here, it seemed like the MAF was the culprit.

I have replaced the MAF with the pierburg unit. I can now hear the turbo coming on and the power has improved but it still comes in late at just over 2000 revs.

So after all that, my question is do i need to reset something for the MAF to operate correctly, or is it just plug it in and everything should work straight away? or does it take time for the ecu to learn the new MAF?

thanks to everyone for all the posts on this site, I've fixed so many issues thanks to this forum.

Hi,

I just drove into work this morning and the power was back to normal for the first few miles ( id forgot how quick it was :) )and then the same problem reoccurred, like the turbo wasnt coming on at all. any ideas? sticking turbo vanes? I'll take it back to the garage and get it scanned again at the weekend, but there were no error codes the last time.

Are there any fuel additives you would recommend to clean the injectors and turbo?

cheers

what computer did the garage use, was it vag com, or a generic obd computer. there should be a code, but if its been scanned just in obd, you wont always find it.

I had this before (AWX also) and it was a vacuum pipe that had split/came off. Didn't see them do it but they called it a 'leak off' pipe and said it was up into the ECU.
