1992 cabriolet instrument fuse problem

Need a little help here if possible:-s I own a 1992 Audi 80 cab and the fuse keeps blowing for all my instruments?? Where do I start? Please help it's drivin me mad :-(

If its similar to saloon model the first place to check would be the wiring harness in the boot where it flexes each time boot is open / closed.
The wires fray internally causing short circuit. There may be a multi plug connector in lh panel which could be disconnected to check this out

Further to Michael's suggestion (which is probably the most likely) There could be a problem with the rear number plate lamps or glovebox lamp/switch which are fed off the same fuse.
