View Full Version : Fitting VW Golf MKV armrest CD Changer
Hi,
I have found an original CD changer for my VE Golf for £180ish. How easy is it to fit? Does it require brackets etc?
thanks

You'll probably have to replace the whole arm rest. Does yours look like this with a rectangle hole for the CD?

If not, your out of luck because the parts required to change it are quite expensive. £600 was quoted on another thread on the forum : http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=9480

Hi,
That is exactly how mine is, same connector and space. My item should be arriving today, according to the seller it just slots in.
Thanks
Hi,
I received the CD changer this morning, popped it into the armrest and it works great :) It was a bit dirty but it works fine.
What formats and CD types does it play? I have a lot of WMA stuff which I usually play from my MP3 player via FM transmittor.

Just audio CDs as far as I know. Those CD players have been around for a long time now. Since well before MP3's and WMA has been on the go. Just out of interest, what trim level is your golf? I've not seen many with that type of armrest that don't already have the CD or the factory fit ipod adapter fitted.

Hi,
There was originally a CD changer but the previous owner said that it was removed when he bought it.
How do I check the trim level? I know its a 1.6FSI I think it is SE but I may be confused with a Civic I was after.
The cd player in the armrest will only play audio cd's as if purchased from a shop.
It will not play MP3 WMA DVD or any other kind of data disc.
You can however burn your own cds as audio but i believe that you have to burn on to cd+RW / R NOT - (minus)
I've done it myself.
