Mooching around the Internet and came across this forum thread:

...and thought to myself "that's bobbins, I've never seen anything remotely like that" in my A4 with MMI 3G... thought I'd check with forum members here... has anyone, ever, anywhere?

The closest I've seen in 3D is Bramall Lane football ground; there's definitely a plant or something around there (in real life, I mean), but all I got was the over-modelled football stadium and some (a few) grey untextured buildings.

Those lucky Japanese... although seeing the trouble my system has with updating itself in the centre of cities (with all those grey untextured 3D buildings) I guess the GPU is working overtime and would probably explode if I got foliage too.

Nope - nothing even remotely like that. My experience is like yours - 3D modelled landmarks in large urban areas (mostly grey boxes) but nothing remotely like the views in that post.

To be honest, my nav doesn't even have the same split-screen mode that the pics show, with the birds-eye view on the right third and a 3D road graphic on the left two thirds. The nearest I get is the exit sliproad graphic on the left when leaving the motorway, but it doesn't come anywhere near the sophistication those pics show.

Is it possible that this is something more akin to the 3G+ system available in the A8, I wonder?

MF.

Good.

I suppose.
