hi, i was changing the fuse or the side light bulbs and when i started the car again the airbag fault warning came up on the dash board, i have tried a few diagnostic tools to see what the problem was but they revealed no errors, i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem on a mk5 golf before. also i brought the car to the dealers and they were looking £80 an hour plus vat to look at the car but a technician told me to check the cable under the drivers seat as it may just need repined and this would solve the problem, however i have checked under the drivers seat and there is about 5 or 6 different wires, since i don't know what each of them are i am reluctant to start fiddling about with them. i am curious if any one on this forum experienced this problem before.

Thanks

If you started the car with any of the air bag leads disconnected they will produce an error that can only be reset by the dealer or VCDS...

Don't know where you are, but if you are local to Leeds or willing to travel I will hook it up to my VCDS and run a scan. If it is a simple fault and not a genuine Air bag fault it should reset.

HI
This is common fault with a few vw modals with the airbag wiring under the seat and the connecter you are looking is a yellow plug it has a Green, Blue, brown wires going in to it, or if it has already been repaired the connecter won't be there and would have had a wiring repair carried out.
Hope this helps

Did the airbag light come on as soon as the fuse was replaced. If it did, I wonder if you have put the fuse back in the wrong place. It does happen.
