I've just received an original VW load liner that I bought second hand on Ebay. The part number is 1KO 061 180 which was advertised as a Mk5 boot liner but unfortunately it doesn't fit our 2004 2.0 GT TDI.
I have a feeling I know the answer but I guess not all MK5 Golfs have a raised boot floor with the polystyrene trays surrounding the spare wheel and there must be more than one boot liner available?
It explains why I thought the boot was a bit small if some of the load space is taken up with a deeper floor build up!

Erm.... your boot floor should be flat. Over the top of the spare wheel and the polystyrene trays there should be a flat panel with a lifting handle? It hinges at the back of the boot (front of the car).
The VW tray drops in on top of this.

Teflon, I don't think you've understood the question. I gather that the liner goes on top of the boot carpet, not under the spare wheel- in this case it is too big. There are also recesses in the back edge of the liner that should fit around the rear seat mechanism but the seat hinges are below the boot floor.
The question was do all Golf Mk V use the same boot liner? If someone has access to the VW Parts Numbers it would be much appreciated.
I've noticed that some aftermarket boot liners say not 4Motion but had assumed all other Golfs have the same boot layout?
I'm going to list it on Ebay as it's no use to me but don't want someone else to get caught out the same way.
Thanks

Okay.
It was the "raised boot floor with the polystyrene trays surrounding the spare wheel" that made me think you had something missing.

It appears that there are 2 different sizes of load liner to suit either cars with a standard boot or cars with a raised boot floor that accomodates a full size spare wheel, could have saved myself some bother if I'd discovered that previously.
The standard item is 1K0 061 180 and the item to suit the raised floor is 1K0 061 181.

Now listed on Ebay if anyone is intertested.
