We recently bought a 2003 1.8T Cab.
Still hoping someone can point me in the direction of a good independent 'expert' to check the car out as we have 12 months warranty with the garage and we would be happier if we knew there was something wrong now rather than later. we certainly cant afford Audi's prices.
We live in south cheshire

Pete, before I bought my 2.4 v6 cabby ('52 plate) I test drove two 1.8 turbo cabs and the reason I went for the v6 was because the 1.8t's were so gutless.
This feeling was odd as I had just sold an A3 1.8t ('97) that went like a rocket.I had also just sold an A4 3.0 quattro (2002) another rocket ship.
After a little research it turns out that the saloon weighs something like 1200kg compared with the cabby at around 1700kg.
My 2.4 is no race car either but thats not what it is for.
I would if I'm honest expect the A3 tdi to be quicker than the 1.8t cabby as the cabby is so heavy
Hope this helps

Thanks for that about the speed. I did guess as much but even though I consider myself an intelligent person we still got fooled by the smooth Audi salesman !!
I would still like to look for a good independent expert..

Never a bad thing to seek independent advice and a non biased opinion.
And we all get taken by a good salesman, that's he's job
