Hope to get some help with Audi A4 (1999). After the repairs of headlights done by the dealer, got a funny clicking noise in climate control like if the servo is adjusting temperature constantly. Today is the first time that air conditionning came on - it works, but the air flow is erratic - either blows hard, or dies down for no particular reason within a space of 3-4 seconds. Any ideas on what could that be? I have no experiance with cars...
    Thanks a bunch

Sounds like you have an air flap motor that is failing.

You need to get the car read for faults to find out which one.

I don't know the finer details of your car but on Golfs and Passasts some are accessable and should be a DIY fix. However if you not to good with cars, I'd suggest you get someone else to sort it.

Make sure you get an accurate diagnosis and make sure you fully understand what is involved in the repair as some of the motors will require a complete dismantling f the dash. Make sure you don't get stung or are prepared, if it is an inaccesable motor to part with upwards of £300.

    Good luck

Hi Alexandra, how did you get on with this problem?

    I have the same on my 03 A4 1.9TDI.

I've run VAG-COM and got 2 fault codes:

Control Module Part Number: 8E0 820 043 AA
    Component and/or Version: A4 Klimaautomat 1119
    Software Coding: 00000
    Work Shop Code: WSC 63251
    Faults Found:
01272 - Positioning Motor for Central Flap (V70)
41-10 - Blocked or No Voltage - Intermittent

I also get an intermittent fault register come up of come up 00735 - which seems to refer to the Recirculation Flap Position Sensor -G143.

If I can fix this without ripping the dash out it would be a real bonus.

Thanks for any help from anyone.

Goto measure value blocks and enter value 000 then run it and it will move the motors form off to on to reset them.

Unfortunately the Group 000 option comes up with ERROR and Not Available. Groups 001-006 give readings. Ay ideas please?

    Norma,
I had exactly the same fault code with motor V70 which caused continual clicking and motor activity (even after removing the ignition key!)
I used VAG.Com to reset all the motors. In the HVAC section, go to basic settings and enter 002. on mine this then showed 8 boxes with values for all the motors etc. and cycled them through full travel to reset the positions.
This worked initally, but only did it yesterday...so watch this space!

Thanks for the info, is it a lasting fix so far?

However when I went into the basic settings I get errors on 000, 001 and 002 and I do not get the 8 windows. On 002 the led readouts go blank on the a/c control panel and it does sound as though the motors are moving between extremes.

I think it is a form of mechanical laughing.......

    Is this what you tried?

    Flap Motor Reset
    08 Heater/A.C
    04 Basic settings
    Channel 000 (30 Secs)
    001 (30 Secs)
    002 (30 Secs)

Ive had the v71 motor error and v68. Both times i solved the problem doing the above.

Are you using a registered version of VAG COM ?
    Just another B7 Estate

    Thanks also.

It seems to be quiet now (I also had the hunting motors even after the key was removed, by removing the glove box you could see the 3 on the side of the centre console) but I've only been out for only or so. Although you could hear it on 'auto' most of the hunting seemed to occur when in the 'up' flow direction.

I'll give it a good run tomorrow and let you know.
