    Hi,

I have a Mk3 golf 2.0L 8V GTI, when I read the fault codes, I am getting 00515 outside specifications. The car has been cutting out when I am driving it.

I have had a new Destributor fitted and the cam sensor changed.

Can anyone tell me how to check/change the timing and what/where I could be looking on VAG-COM.

    Thanks

That will have an AGG code engine. The distributor hall sender is out of sync and so the distributor needs top be repositioned. Start the car and enter Engine 01, Measuring Blocks 007 and four blocks of data will appear. Rotate the distributor until the value in block 1 is between 57 and 60 or 1 and the value in block 2 is between 5 and 8.

    Hi. im new to this.
Ive seen that you have the same sort of problem as me, but my car has stopped running all together now. I know that when it was running i had plugged it on to a snap on scanner and it showed the hall effect sensor...
But now my has stopped running. turns over, got fuel but no spark...
    can anyone help??

    Any help would be great

The most likely reason is the coil. The ECU will trigger the coil even if the distributor hall sender is unplugged, an ADY or AGG will run almost as well as normal up to 5K rpm with the hall sender unplugged, all it does is to tell the ECU where number one piston is so as it may initiate sequential rather than full group injection.

    Hi.
Thanks for the information. I'll have to try it. I was thinking it could be the crank sensor.

    Thanks again

Possibly but that usually gives a fault code, but not always. The engine speed sender G28 (on the front of the engine block) is not what VW refer to as the hall sender G40, which is inside the distributor.
