    Hi,
I've got the car mentioned in the thread title. I ran the VCDS through and got the log as below. There is no Engine Management light on; car runs absolutely fine and I've managed about 225miles from half a tank (I am thinking it's good - but i'm sure it could be better)

Could someone help me in understanding the following log? i.e. what parts will I need to change etc? I've read on Ross-tech's website and it seems the MAF filter but if someone can confirm it for sure before I go ahead with the change, I would really appreciate it.

    Cheers.

Can you post the full log?

Did you see a time and date - if its old, it may have been fixed and not deleted from the cars memory.

Press Applications in VCDS' main menu, then Erase All DTCs, do a few ignition cycles and rescan.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Only thing missing from the log is:

Control Module Part Number: 06A 906 033 EH
    Component and/or Version: SIMOS71 1.6l 2V 9429
    Software Coding: 0000071
    Work Shop Code: WSC 06314 000 00000
    VCID: 69DDC2F0407D1250962

    Unfortunately it was someone else's VCDS and I can't do a re-scan etc :/

Is it worth getting the cheap ones being sold on eBay?

never start fixing stuff by going on codes where the fault may have already been fixed years ago and the code not deleted, as chris rightly points out.
scan again, clear the codes, drive, re scan, fix current faults. anything else is just bonkers unless you need to get rid of some money.

Cheers for your input chaps. I honestly don't want to throw money but because there is an error I would like to know the cause of it since it drives me nuts that there is something wrong with what I've got

Something major that I have missed out is that it's a 1.6 Petrol which doesn't have an MAF - unless I'm talking rubbish...

Got vehicle scanned again, 3 times, and no errors were found. Scanned while it was switched off; scanned after starting it; scanned while it was on. Nothin in all 3 instances :/

    Utter non-sense!!!

Whats performance and fuel consumption like?

I ask because I used to have a Golf 1.6 FSI and I had nothing but problems with it because of the exhaust/fuel/emissions system

Ended up changing NOX sensor, cat... on and on it went until I threw it out

This "amateur" nature was VW not myself. I dont know the last time you went into a dealership but thats all they ever do these days. Never said I was a professional but thanks for your excellent input. Clearly contributes a lot to the ops thread.
