On my the panel which covers the fuses, there is a sticker which tells me that fuse 5 is KI.15 supply (control unit)

Would anyone know exactly what this relates too on a 2003 A6 Avant 1.9tdi? I'm thinking the comfort control module - is that under located under the passenger seat?

    Hm OK, thanks.

Fuse 5 blows instantly ignition switched on - I'll have a prod about later, but do you think maybe faulty ignition or just a bad connection/wire somewhere?

It's an AWX. I've disconnected a load of equipment linked (according to handbook) to that fuse, including the air con compressor, but of course no joy.

Same car (mine is an early 05 model) same label on the fusebox cover. Here is a list I've found.

Seat heating, bulb monitoring device, mirror switch, mirror adjsutment motors, air conditioner, aux heater, rear roller blind, control unit for parking aid, nav system, telematics, self levelling suspension, tyre press monitor and auto gearbox (tip switch).

You need a current flow diag to trace back your short to earth and its relation to terminal 15 ignition supply, instead of replacing the fuse put a voltmeter across the fuse or 12 volt test light and unplug the circuit until the voltage drops to isolate the short

The offending culprit is the pressure sensor switch and has been left unplugged until the new one arrives.

At least the fuse has stopped blowing and everything else is back to normal.
