Hi I'm having one side (passenger side) of my engine getting hotter than the other side (even just on idle) also seems like it maybe running a little rougher? I'm not sure but it's definitely louder on this side I've also got a whistle when revved (more as I let the throttle off) also I have a bit of a sucking noise when i turn the car off (sounds like it's coming from the throttle control flap) not sure if this connected to my problems or even if it's normal but i didn't notice it in the first 3 years i had the car but the sucking noise has been there for a little bit (i think since I had a garage change the egr valve) please help

Do you get a vapour like trail of white smoke from the exhaust at idle with a thick unpleasant odour?

I think there has been a bit of white smoke not too sure if it's vapour like and not too sure about any odour from the backend i will have to check tomorrow , under the bonnet and maybe even inside the car there is an odour but i think it's just the smell of heat, what kind of odour am i looking for? What are your ideas? So I can look for it

Sounds like typical faulty V6 CR TDI injector syndrome, makes them run lean and get very hot.

Thanks for the reply, ah ok i didn't realise there was a common fault with injectors on these what exactly is the fault is it to do with the cr or injectors theirselves? , but would that create a whistle or the sucking noise? Or do you suspect those to be separate issues? Would this show up on vcds? As I did a scan a few weeks back and it didn't pick up on that although it want to do another one tomorrow, weather permitting i get tomorrow to look at my car (the weather hasn't really been giving me the days I can actually look at my car recently)

The injectors wear, it is a well known and VAG acknowledged problem dealt with by installing an upgraded set of injectors. The noise is usually a blocked breather system caused by poor oil change intervals, i.e. the ones recommuby Audi......
