Hi, I'm new to the forum and drive a 2005 55 reg Audi A4 Avant. It's a 3.0 TDi S-Line Quattro and what a fantastic car it is!

The previous owners has opted for the route of services every 2 years, although I wouldn't buying a bottle of oil to keep the old girl topped up for when it gets low.

Now this is my first Audi/Diesel, so I haven't a clue with what's best. I use to own a Honda Civic Type R and ordered all my oil through Opie Oil, so I popped on there and found this oil.

Fuchs TITAN GT1 LONGLIFE III 5W-30 Premium Synthetic meeting VW504.00, VW507.00

Will this oil be ok for my needs? I've had Fuchs oil in the past and it seems to do the trick!

    Advice anyone?

    Chris

Yes that oil is fine and meets the spec.

If I were you I would change the oil every 10k.

I was thinking in going down that route and altering the milage/service intervals.

What are the benefits? Just fresher oil to keep things sweet or?

Change your oil in 10k or 1 years time or whatever comes first then reset the interval to fixed when the next 10k comes which means the interval isn't modified until then.

How long is left until the next service is due?

Just really peace of mind to keep the engine fresh and clean oil circulating.

Hey there, unsure if you're doing the oil changes yourself or going to the dealer?

Audi will charge £100 for an oil and filter change using the correct grade of oil.
National tyres will do the sam echange for you using the correct grade of oil 05w30 Castrol Edge synthetic longlife for around £35 - £40

Simply go here and type in your registration and see for yourself.

From past experience I think you'll find you probably can't buy the oil and filter for that price!

Good luck whatever way you decide to go my friend

5200 miles or 180 days until next service...

I was planning on some sort of garage doing the work to keep the service book up to date with stamps etc...

If I went Audi and provided my own oil. would they deduct it off the total price?

Well wait until the service is due and get the interval changed to fixed.

You could go to an independent VAG specialist - we have a sponsor who is in Nottingham - Steve (Crasher) @ C&R Enterprises

VW Audi Seat Skoda Specialists | Parts Service Modifications 0115 978 5740

I'm sure he would allow you to provide your own oil and he will be significantly cheaper than Audi doing the equivalent work. He will stamp your book too.

Ah excellent. I shall check them out. I went to a Honda specialist when I had the civic which was cheaper.

    Cheers Chris

My A6 3.0 TDi takes 8 litres but i will double check for yours

You can also buy this which is Castrol Edge but in VAG packaging and you get 10 litres which will be enough to cover the oil change.

I tried looking on the Castrol website for the capacity but they didn't list it so I assume it's around the same as 8 litres.
