Does the 1.4 TSI 160PS have a single or twin tail pipe as standard?

Well I don't need any but reading the spec here it appears to be 60-61mm

    VW GOLF MK2 MK3 MK4 3 4 5 TAIL PIPE EXHAUST TRIM TIP

It appears the Audi A3 have chrome tail pipe that should fit. They do a single pipe trim for exhaust tail pipe - 8P0 071 771 - £32.

    And a twin pipe trim for exhaust tail pipe twin pack - 8P0 071 761 - £56.

5L0 071 910 is the skoda part number for the twin pipe exhaust trims as featured in my recent post with fitting photos and notes - and they are the same for the GT 1.4 TSI 160 , earlier in this post there are also photos of these fitted to your model. (see page 5 and 6 of this thread for the posts by member Bakwa1) ..........Price £25.54 inc vat ...well worth it.

Are they likely to rust at all?

I bought a couple of trims from ebay, granted they were cheap but after a few months they have rusted despite sealing them regularly when washing the car.

Good question...the skoda ones certainly seem very good quality. There are no care instructions or product info on the leaflet that came with them. Time will tell I guess.
Some members will have had theirs fitted for some months now, can anyone update on how they are doing?

Obviously the dearer ones are made from stainless steel whereas the cheaper eBay ones are probably just cheap chrome plating. You pays you money and you take a chance.

I had the original chrome tail pipes on my Rover 216 GTi and I had that 16 years and the chrome was still perfect. The only problem was the captive nut that secured it that came loose so I tacked a couple of ordinary 8mm nuts on and coated them with my special exhaust lubricate, they always came undone afterwards.

Yeah they are £25 but that is for a twin set so £12 per trim is cheap.
