Cheers you are a diamond, will call Audi (Stafford good past service & Bristol local) in the morning

    Final final question for now.

I have a bit of a rep with the wife for taking on things that may be beyond me, I usually get it done but sometimes the car has then been off the road and she has had to lend me hers and she ends up walking........

So the question is, how difficult is it to take out the seat from an S6?

    Cheers,

You can remove the 4 bolts for the seat (10 - 12 mm multi) spline and then push the seat back and lift it.
You can leave the seat in the car as you now have enough room, remove the nsf inner sill trim carefully to allow you to lift the carpet for the nsf footwell, now lift the carpet and prop it up with something to access the black box

the trickiest part is the nsf sill trim as they are tight so lever the trim slowly until it lifts

    Hi All,

Just to close this one down. I have now resolved both issues.

First the simple one, somehow I must of broken the seal on the O/S rear tailgate light when I was replacing the rear wash wipe as it was letting in water. I've beefed up the seal and I'm monitoring it for leaks before replacing the trim but all looks okay at the minute.

Second the bluetooth module. Yesterday I got round to replacing the BT module. All went smoothly and when I reconnected the power I had all units back up and running. Big smile of satisfaction on my face!

Quick run through of steps (Special thanks go to A8 Tech and PeterD for their help)

    Removal

1 Remove the trim cover on the side of the seat that is over the seat belt.
2 Disconnect the seat belt from the seat.
3 Move the passenger seat all the way up and back.
4 Remove the front seat frame end protectors.
5 Using a 10mm multi spline socket remove the front seat frame bolts from both sides.
6 Move the seat all the way forward.
7 Using a 10mm multi spline socket remove the rear seat frame bolts from both sides.
8 Move the seat to a central position (this makes it easier to remove the seat form the car in a later step.
9 Disconnect the earth strap from the battery and ensure it can not accidently recreate a path to ground.
10 Tip the seat backwards on its frame and remove the cover from beneath the seat that protects all of the seat electrical connectors, remove said connectors and the cable strain relief clip.
11 Place some carpet/foam or similar close to the car, lift the seat out of the car and place on the foam the seat, being mindful not to rest the frame on the wires.
12 Remove the B-Post trim panels. First the upper one by pulling at its lowest point. Then the lower one by pulling at its highest point, once detached at the top pull the trim panel vertically upwards.
13 Remove the front sill trim panel by lifting gently from the rear working forward.
14 Unhook the carpet and gain access to the black plastic box that the BT module is in.
15 Using a flat bladed screwdriver release the catches on one side of the equipment box so that you can remove the lid.
16 Carefully remove the fibre obtic cable from the unit. DO NOT BEND THE FO CABLE! they damage easy if you take the bend radius too small.
17 Release the white lever on the electrical multiplug and remove from BT unit.
18 Take BT module with BT aerial attached out of the car.
19 Transfer the BT aerial to the new BT unit.

    Rebuilding

1 Carefully reconnect the FO Cable and the Electrical Multiplug to the new BT unit.
    2 Reconnect the battery.
3 Test to see if the radio, CD, Nav systems work, mine all did. My telephone did not work at this stage as it was yet to be coded with VCDS to the car.
4 Disconnect, once more, the earth strap from the battery and ensure it can not accidently recreate a path to ground.
5 Replace the lid to the equipment box and relocate it into position.
6 Smooth down the carpet and rehook it over the tabs on the sill.
7 Replace the front sill trim panel, working from the front backwards. Make sure the rubber seal is on the outside.
8 Replace the lower B-Post trim, Insert bottom clips first then lever top ones in by pushing FIRMLY. Again ensure the rubber seal is on the outside.
9 Replace the upper B-Post trim, Insert top clips first then lever bottom ones in by pushing FIRMLY. Again ensure the rubber seal is on the outside. The most difficult part of this was making sure to line up the seat belt height adjuster.
10 Lift the seat back into the car.
11 Tip the seat backwards on its frame and reconnect the seat electrical connectors and the cable strain relief clip.
12 Locate the seat frame by the dowels in the frame.
    13 Reconnect the battery.
14 Move the passenger seat all the way up and back.
15 Using a 10mm multi spline socket replace the front seat frame bolts on both sides, use a torque wrench set to 50Nm.
16 Replace the front seat frame end protectors.
17 Move the seat all the way forward.
18 Using a 10mm multi spline socket replace the rear seat frame bolts on both sides, use a torque wrench set to 50Nm.
19 Reconnect the seat belt to the seat. Make triple sure you have done this correctly!
20 Replace the seat trim cover over the seat belt.
21 Replace the cover beneath the seat that protects all of the seat electrical connectors.

    Recoding

1 With the engine running or battery charger attached connect VCDS and run a Optical Bus check. All should be OK for both Electrical and Optical.
2 Run an Auto-Scan. I had many faults showing because I had turned on the ignition with out the seat connected ie airbags, seat heaters etc etc.
3 If content you can explain all of the codes, clear them down and rescan. You should see under controller 77 - Telephone the following

    Address 77: Telephone Labels: 4E0-910-336.lbl
    Part No SW: 4E0 910 336 M HW: 4E0 862 335
    Component: Handyvorb2 H16 1130
    Revision: 00000000 Serial number: 00000005088996
    Coding: 0000000
    Shop #: WSC 00000 000 00000
    VCID: 2C5C8146F663
    No fault code found.

4 Now using the VCDS recode the BT module. My old one was coded as 0010920, and this matched the pop up on VCDS so I used this number. I did not change any of the Adaptation and all appears to work okay. On rescan the VCDS log was

    Address 77: Telephone Labels: 4E0-910-336.lbl
    Part No SW: 4E0 910 336 M HW: 4E0 862 335

    Revision: 00000000 Serial number: 00000005088996
    Coding: 0010920
    Shop #: WSC 00000 000 00000
    VCID: 2C5C8146F663
    No fault code found.

Hope this helps someone. If anyone needs any of the workshop sheets I have to help PM me and I'll email them to you.

    Cheers,

Evening everyone - found this topic when researching my own issue, wondered if anyone could help.

My MMI works well, no audio issues etc. However my iphone 4 and the bluetooth module dont seem to get one. When its connected, it works really well. However frequently it drops the connection, especially in the middle of calls. Sometimes i just get unbearable static through the speakers and i have to break the connection and reset, this is normally is accompanied by an inability to answer the phone through the MMI keys.

I know the Telephone modules on these are cranky so rang the dealer earlier for a price. They were helpful and between the workshop and the parts desk suggested that my problem may not be the module (as apparently these seem to just die completely) but the BT aerial. The module is £290 and the later is £12, so you can see why i would like to get to the bottom of the issue.

I dont have a lot of experience with VCDS, they suggest i bring it in for fault finding. Will VCDS be able to pin point/differentiate the fault that accurately between the two areas? In addition is it likely a faulting tel module would intermittently play up?

ukandyb very kindly answered my third question re seat removal in his great write up above.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Ross

Which iOS version do you have on your Iphone? I'm not an Iphone owner but there have been a number of posts on German forums about iOS 4.1 being a quantum leap backward over iOS 4.0 wrt stable bluetooth connection with cars (not only but including audi's mmi). Other users reported improvements on bluetooth connections with iOS 4.1... so strange. I wouldn't rule out a firmware problem on the iphone. Does your family have a differnt phone you can test for stability? At least you'd know whether it was the iphone or not if tested with a different phone.

If you're not already on iOS 4.1 I'd say try that.
    5.1.1 is the current version

    Hi thanks for the response.

I have uploaded the screen shot to here:

    http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/w...0A6/photo3.jpg

    Hope that works.

I mentioned the software update to my dealer after hunting through the forums and although they are very helpful generally, they looked at me blankly and said it would be a module issue. This is the same response i got from a different dealer tonight.

I have seen it can be done as a DIY job, but i found the process a bit daunting. I wondered as an alternative if i could buy the iphone 4 cradle for the armrest and just connect the phone every time?

Any info would be greatly appreciated, i rely on the phone kit.

Jeez fw 2120 which is pretty old - the latest is 5570.

From memory you may have to update to another version then to 5570.
