    I don't know if you're doing it all right and it's your hardware that's the issue .... or if you're making a mistake.

    If it's the hardware then there's nothing anyone can add so let's assume it's how you're doing it.

    The instructions seem quite good on http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagComABS.html so it could be you're new to VCDS.

    Maybe this will help??

    [1] Make sure you have the latest version of VCDS running.

    [2] Always take a screenshot/a record of the module you're changing so you can restore it to how it was.

    [3] Bytes start from the left to the right in their number order. This is displayed so you shouldn't get it wrong but double check you're in the right one.

    [4] Bits are numbered from the right to the left i.e. 76543210
    This still catches me out if I've left my brain turned off ! Bit 0 is the furthest on the right. Bit 7 is the furthest left.

    [5] When making changes via the Long Coder always move the cursor onto another byte to ensure the change is set and then press escape. Check the change against the previous number before you hit do it.

    Maybe post up what you've done to see if we can spot something? Also do you have 2G or 3G ??

    It seems once you've done the relevant change to get it displayed in MMI (different for each system) then simply changing Byte 1 Bit 3 from 0 to 1 in 03- ABS should tell you if it's gonna work or not. i.e. do you get the "Coding Rejected - Error 31 - Request out of range message". Admittedly you may not have the Long Coder telling you what it's for but someones done the hard work for you and worked it out so just make the change above. It's hardly "flipping bits blindly"

    If you get it then it seems the hardware is incompatible. Then it's just enabling it for the Instrument Cluster.
    i.e. [17 - Instruments]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 4 Bit 0 - Change 0 - 1

    As I say post up what you've done and lets see if we can narrow it down.

    Thanks Scotty, I wasn't sure whether the absence of labels meant that R-T simply hadn't come across that version of the controller before or whether it might be more fundamental.

    From what you're saying. provided 03 ABS accepts the bit change that should be the TPMS code - I'll give it a try later and let you know how I get on.

    Oh, and it's 3G and the CAR+SETUP menu mod works great.

    Ross-Tech discover a lot and publish it but also people find things and often don't tell Ross-Tech. Even if they do Ross-Tech get it checked out before releasing it in a new version of VCDS.

    It's comforting when you can tick a Bit with the correct label but it's a fairly new concept. In the past we had nothing like it. If you don't have the description then you basically have to tread a little more carefully.

    Those must have been interesting times

    Well, I followed the instructions to the letter including the 03 ABS controller and I appear to have a working TPMS system. The option appears and is accesible in Car menu and no errors appear anywhere that I can see.

    Excellent. Thanks for the support Scotty and for the hard work of those who came before!

    Now, what's next?

    Good stuff. Don't forget to check all your pressures and then set the system

    Next - do you have kids? The ability to play DVD's whilst moving is useful (if not within the law!)

    No kids... doubt I could afford this and have kids

    Might have a play with the levels the DRLs run at with dipped beam next. Not 100% I promise.

    LED brightness doesn't make much difference TBH.

    It was 9% and making 50% is hardly noticable.

    Hi folks, here´s the coding for "MMI speed display" which you were missing,I have to say this is only for concert and symphony radios,not for Navi cars
    it´s done by adaptation

    MODULE 56 (RADIO)

    Select Control Module -> [Select] -> [56 – Radio]
    [Adaptation – 10] -> Channel 02 -> [Read]
    change Value 0 for 1

    SELECT [Test]
    SELECT [Save] to store this new value [Done, Go Back]

    If you then go to your "CAR" menu, look for "setup" and you´ll have a new option called "Driving school mode" which you´re now able to activate...it looks like this:

    Cheers

    Hi guys,

    Actually managed to go through all 26 pages yesterday (pfhew!!) but it made a great read before picking up the new car today - as from today I am the extremely proud owner 2010 A4 2.0 TDI (170PS) S-Line Executive. Really complete car with HDD sat nav, cruise control, leather/alcantara sport seats, etc, etc. The dealer threw in rear parking, an MMI cable, an extra key (they accidentally ordered a new one) and Audi car mats with the pretty silver piping (expensive apparently). My compliments to Chelmsford Audi - great service so far!

    Not an awful lot that needs doing - other than window tinting and perhaps upgrading the Xenon bulbs to 6000K or so to get better brightness. Now as the forum tread implies - there are a few minor bits that would make my lovely car even better which involve VAG coding:

    1. LED DRL's full brightness when using fog lights or driving lights (not indicators)
    2. LED Tail lights on with DRLs
    3. Auto closing windows when arming the car.
    4. Sweeping needles speedo / rev counter on startup of the engine.

    Trying to recall some of the other options mentioned above, but don't think anything else is necessary for me (such as hidden MMI menu).

    I'm based in Braintree, Essex and am hoping that someone with the right tools/software would be willing to spend some time on my car to make these improvements? Obviously I'd be happy to drive and see you when you're based locally and contribute towards a beer fund or equivalent! Really not sure how much time this takes but any time spent would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance y'all!

    I'm in Harlow and so not too far for you.

    Auto window closure when arming the car should be on by standard. Just hold the lock button.
