Hi, Recently someone reversed a lorry into my boot giving it a decidedly crumpled look. I have had it looked at by garage and the boot lid is the only part that needs replacing. they have quoted me over 200 quid to bash it back into shape but these parts are going on ebay for 45 quid and probably cheaper if i was fortunate enough to find a scrap yard with one in.

My question is how easy would it be to take mine off and put another one on. is this something I could do myself? and would i encounter any problems with the central locking stuff on the boot?

    Rob

Simple to change boot, diy fix, only thing is you would have to make sure you had one with central locking mechanism to save switching it all over and maybe change the key barrel in boot lid if you wanted to use the key with it also .

I've just done this on mine. To actually remove the boot is just 4 bolts on the hinges. If you disconnect all the electrical connections make a note of what went where as i didnt so took 3 hours to do!! Also when i tried to pull all the wires through rather than cutting the wires, 2 got stuck so i had to cut, re solder and tape up 5 wires.

The vacume pipe for the C/L just pills off so wasnt a prob. If i had made a note of the connections and hadnt had to resolder it would have taken an hour with being careful not to scratch anything
