A4 problem code 00575 – 13-11-2009,06:07 PM

I have a 1999 A4 TDI 1.9. When you boot it the engine splutters at about 2800 revs, then only has reduced power until the engine is switched off. My spanner man has identified the problem as code 00575 (Intake manifold pressure deviation from desired value intermittant). Has anybody any ideas on this problem please.
