    Hi all

Last year, I had the 'coil' light and limp mode scenario. Took the passat to Vw dealer who changed the air mass meter

It's been driving fine since, until this morning.

I started to drive home from work, and couldn't go above 40mph and no power when pedal pressed down. But this time I didn't get any warning lights, beeps or messages on the dash.

I pulled over, turned the engine off, restarted and it was fine again.

It's odd, as Im actually more suspicious as there's no 'fault' warning on the dash.

    It's an 06 2.0 140 TDI, done about 49k

    ideas?

Probably need to get a fault code reading, even if the dash doesn't display an issue, as they could be any number of problems causing this. Would seem to be mechanical or electrical as it sorts itself when re-started, as opposed to a loose turbo pipe or something similar.
Hope it's one of the cheaper fixes.

Strange one because limp mode with no obvious signs usually means failed MAF. You will need a code read. Some faults show in a read but don't show as a fault code.

Well it's just happened again on a quick run to the shops.

Still no fault warning on dash

Anyone know where I can get a cheap code read done in the Liverpool area?

Last time I went to my VW dealership, it was £80 for a diagnostic!

I'd ask for a tenner code read but I live in Lincoln. Thats the problem with these cars, before you can investigate anything you have to hook it up to diagnostics!
