    Hi,

Bit of a sensitive question being immobilizer related, especially as its my first post on this forum, but I was given another dash for my A3 (1.6 sport '98) out of a later model with the white dials and center digital info screen. Well, I changed it, now I realise how stupid of a mistake it was as now the immobiliser light now keeps flashing and keeps cutting the engine out when started. I put the old instruments back in but still, the immobilizer keeps cutting the engine out Can anyone suggest what I can do to solve the problem?

    Thanks very much in advance,

    Kris

Yes the dash is coded to the imobiliser, an new dash requires recoding. You can send a faulty a dash away to sort out the LCD display so I would have thought putting the old one back in would have worked? Have a search I seem to remember something about the correct order to do things on here.

The original dash wasn't faulty, but the new one looked a bit more modern but didn't think it would cause me this much grief lol. I have searched around the forum but haven't found anything that has helped so far and I cant figure out why the old unit hasn't sorted the problem I did try disconnecting the battery etc like some of the other threads have said but to no avail.

    Thanks for you help though,

    Kris

Would this easily be done with a cheap VAGCOM kit off ebay?
