I have a 2004 Passat Saloon and have a Bosal towbar to fit.
Another site has mentioned a CAN-Bus circuitry adapter for installing the electrics to the towbar hook up point. I understand this attaches to the rear light cluster.
At about £50 is this worth the cash or should I simply spur off existing wiring?
    Help please.

    As a 2004 it should be a B5.5 ?

If so, you shouldn't need the can-bus adaptor, a B6 would.

    Yes, it is a B5.5
Can you confirm the best way to add the electrics and where from?

Mine are spliced into the cables on the back of the rear clusters.

Use scotch-locks or for a proper job, solder.

For about £50~£60 you can get the 'proper' VW set from your local parts dept. (or try VAG Parts). I believe that jobs plugs into to the rear light cluster and saves you splicing any wires... May even make the dash light work if you;re lucky

    Good luck

Between the Cruise Control and Airbag warning lights on the rev counter dial is a trailer turn signal warning light. This is effectively the repeater to show you that the trailer indicators are working (it flashes when you indicate if they are working)

    Good luck...
