    hi all, i hope someone can point me in the right direction please,

    i own a 98 passat 1.9tdis

    unsteady idling and spluterring at low rpm on acceleration,

    hooked her up to vag -com

    got following code: 01268 - quantity adjuster (n146) 35-10 ---intermittent

    does this mean i need to replace the fuel pump?

    More likely you will need to reccondition the fuel pump...I would check the pump's conectors for signs of corosion first... There are write-up's on the net about people fixing said pumps(quantity adjusters, fuel temp. sensor, etc.) by oppening the domed black box on top of the pump, however i would not touch that as they are prone to leak and the quantity adjuster needs fitting in exactly the same position(use tipex marks) or the pump will not work well at all ! U will need an special socket as well but you can take it off by hammering over a suitable round, multipoint socket. Halfords do cheap 6-7mm long deep sockets wich work a treat and if you dammage it, yopu can throw the socket away !

    thanks adam , maybe ill just need to buy a pump then,

    probally best to get it fitted at a specialist?
    ill presume the pumps are expensive....
    im in ayrshire if anybody knows a decent garage.. thanks
