Wanted - Manchester Area

I am trying to source a high quality VW independant or dealer for work on 2 VW Passats.

The first is a no brainer 2001 1.8T Sport and most all independants and dealers will handle it, the other is a 2003 W8 4Motion Tip and most independants won't and nor will many of the smaller dealers, actually they can't as special VW training is needed, only VW Master Techs or above are allowed to touch them even by VW.

I am prepared to pay a fair hourly rate but I am not prepared to be raped.

I am not interested in marble floors, clinicly clean workshops or showrooms, posh waiting areas or free coffee.

I am not interested in paying for trial and error repairs that seem now to be the principle diagnostic method employed by main dealers. As far as I am concerned if the technician says a part costing hundreds will fix a problem then it either better fix it or it had better be free. I am interested in paying for quality work, something that sadly is disappearing from main dealers despite the enormous hourly rates.

If anyone reading is or knows of such a place within 50 miles of Manchester let me know ...

Had my major service done there. He knows quite a bit, not sure what kind of work you need done.

No sorry my car is under a used car warranty from VW in Hyde until September. I live about 4 miles from it and have passed it for years that's all.

I have used Carford Garage in Preston (Bray Street, sorry can't remember the phone number), specialist VW AUDI SEAT use all genuine parts, including LongLife oil etc.. I've only had services done there, which have been very good and about half the price of the Preston main dealer, so I don't know what they're like for other repairs, or if they have courtesy cars etc... but so far I have been impressed.
