    lt35 duel mass flywheel

hi all. i have a problem with my 2004 lt35. rattle from g/box wants to stall unless i lift revs at junctions etc. in garage yesterday fault seams to be the duel mass flywheel which they tell me has oil in it which has come to the end of its life. it also smokes a lot when starting ,hot or cold.they say this might be the flywheel sensor not working properly, because of flywheel prob.when i googled flywheel they all seem to have springs ! not oil . the garage i use is very good i must say. also price for flywheel is mental!!! any help would be good thanks.

    Re: lt35 duel mass flywheel

I was under the impression that the DMF had springs too rather than oil Although I know of someone who recently replaced a DMF on a bmw and the bell housing was full of thick grease that had come from the failed DMF so perhaps there are different types.(He spent hours cleaning the stuff out!)

As for the smoking on start up, If its a 2.5 TDI it could be the fuel pump timing is out, Usually after a belt failure when the new belt is fitted it can be a bit tricky to set the timing up again and should be checked using vagcom.

I have a T4 2.5 TDI and I know that if the pump timing is out on these they are a bugger to start from cold and are smokey until warmed up.

I am assuming the LT will be the same as the engines (2.5 TDI`s) I believe are basically the same.

    Hope this helps.

    Matt.
