Hi folks,

After many hours spent testing the switches, connections, voltages and frequencies etc, the Audi (optional extra) Cruise Control Module on my lovely 1998 A4 2.4 SE Saloon has gone kaput. The Cruise works but after about 30 secs, drops the settings and reverts back to normal foot control. You cannot Resume the previous setting - it is dead.

Leaving the Cruise switched off at the stalk for about 15 mins or so allows it to work again for another 30 secs or so until it drops off again. The more I use the Cruise, the shorter the time that it lasts for before dropping off get. It's obviously temperature related. I have drilled holes in the aluminium case for the module to let the air in but that made no difference whatsoever.

By the way, it's NOT the vacuum system - I have checked and that holds a REALLY strong vacuum even after the pump is switched off. The fault is electronic because I can hear the relay in the Cruise Control Module click off when it fails

In investigating this fault, I have created a really comprehensive Check Sheet that I have used over and over again to try and isolate the fault to being external to the Module (and hence cheaper) but it came up OK EVERY time.

What I am looking for is another Audi Cruise Control Module. I've tried the on-line Scrap dealers who specialise in Audis but no joy. I tried ordering a new module from Audi but they have quoted a delivery date of 9 March 2009!

Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I could try next please?

For information, the part number I need is 4B0 907 305 (which supercedes and replaces the Part Number 4D0 907 305 fitted in my car - perhaps they had problems with that version!). I believe the 4B0 version was in use up until about 2002 on A4 and A6 models.

Any help / pointers would be much appreciated.

Regards
