Hi, I have what seems to be the not uncommon problem of an airbag light continuously illuminated.
I bought the car from the first owner at 36000 mls and the light was not on then but came on within a couple of thousand miles and has stayed on since. The car has now done 102000 mls.
The ******* diagnosed ans ecu problem and prescribed a cure by replacement costing several hundred pounds so it has not been done.
I took it to a mate recently who has a diagnostic tool (Launch) and it tells me that the fault code is 01106 but does not list that code so the question here is, what does that code signify?
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks.

That code is Power Window Opening Relay -J291 apparently?
Are you sure that is the code it gave?

Hi thanks for the quick response.
Yes, I have the print-out which lists the "ECU Coding: 01106"
In fact the diagnostic tool also suggested a central locking fault but since it all seems to work properly, I did not ask for that fault code.
I wonder if it would make sense to try changing the central locking relay?

It makes sense a bit more now, 01106 is the control module coding not the fault code.
The relay is not a problem, do you have any other codes on the printout?

    It says;-Airbag Fron+Seite 1001
It also gives a part number; 8D0-959-655-J which is almost, but not quite identical to that on the *******'s estimate where the number between the 9s is an 8 instead of a 5.
    No other codes appear.
    Any ideas?

The dealers is probably right with the diagnosis and the part no on the estimate is probably a modified part. if you can find a module from a breakers anyone with a full version of vag com could code it in.
