i came home after a week away, picked car up from airport and drove home, next day notice it drives like a pig and the ride height warning light stays on.

audi wont look at it till at least monday, anything i can do in the mean time coz i really dont wanna pay audi if i can sort myself.

ive read about the shocks leaking and a forum how to change them, how do i know if they or the compressor need changing?

in what order and how can i check things?

halfords didnt have a manual so i'd appreciate the help, thanks.

    its a 2000 2.5tdi allroad

Do you have the self levelling option. It may have failed. Shocks do not alter the height unless they have seized. Perhaps you ahd broken the end turn off both front springs by hitting speed bumps too fast. Regards Peter

its adjustable air suspension on the allroad , it wont let me change the ride height at all, no fault noticed before this. just now the front end slammed right down.

how do i go about testing the system?, i dont have a vag com thing.

Without VAG-COM you really can't do anything.

ok, i've paid a big german car specialist for diagnosis, they came up with G291, said the pump needs replacing then whatever else they can find after the pump is put in.

obviously quoted me big bucks, bit cheaper than audi though.

are the pumps extra hard to fit?

do you need any specific tools?

I'm not stupid when it comes to getting my hands in there, I am just not in a position to fork out thousands right now, i've only had it 5 months.

thinking back, the front left corner would sit lower when i noticed it, so i'm gonna source new shocks/ bags for the front too.

    online breakers here i come.

any help for the above would be gratefully received

Fitting the pump is easy but without VAG-COM (and a fully operational registered version at that and 409 isn’t really good enough, it needs to be 805) the factory workshop information is of no use whatsoever as you will not be able to perform the basic setting, charging and bleeding of the system.

The mods take a dim view of prompting the illegal use of the factory workshop information.

i will get it fitted then take to audi for set up for peace of mind, just cant afford new pump.

    will this one go in?
