Audi A4 tdi - how to change oil?

I bit the bullet and went there yesterday and got all the bits I need.

I wasn't sure what oil from the 3 or 4 choices so just got the best which cost me £49+VAT for 5 litres of Valvoline SynPower XL3!

And add in wiper blades and oil flush and i just spent £113!! I thought servicing the car myself was meant to be cheap!

The oil filter was £4.80+VAT so if I can just find a slightly cheaper oil that is still suitable then I will start doing similar frequency oil changes rather than wait for the service light to come up.

Nah, I use eurocarparts for all my filters. They are hengst.. good stuff! I use Millers xfe-pd 505.01. Drain every 6 months or 5k.. Keeps it in top condition.
