It would be code 01435 but there are four divisions to this code, 005 no or incorrect setting/adaptation, 088 Implausible signal, 012 fault in electrical circuit and 00 sporadic.

Whatever conclusion you come to, G201 is inside the pump so that must be replaced or repaired, you can chase around until the cows come home and it will not change this fact.

Thanks for the clarification Crasher. It's just that this (£1,500) is a very hard pill to swallow!!

I have also been using a Touran forum and it seems there are many others who have suffered this ESP/ABS pump problem over the last 12 months.

Apparently it is becoming quite an issue on Tourans and some Golf models.

The same pump is used on Golf 5, Golf Plus and Caddy as well as the Touran and is becoming a common issue.

Sorry to hear about yur problem Peter. However from the Touran forum it now seems that VW are recognising as a fault and are making significant contributions to the repair, unlike the early days when they denied there was a problem and offered nothing to tose out of warranty.

It seesm the problem is now too big to ignore. You should push VW hard for compensation.

    hi there

The touran seems to have this problem alot if you get it scanned it will come up with the brake load sensor electrical fault in circuit this sensor is in the ABS pump thats why it cost so much. Hope this helps a little

This is all very interesting! We have had the light on in our car for a while (04 TDi sport), just cant afford to get it looked at and these posts aren't helping matters.
The ABS seems to be working when doing brake tests, but the downside is its chewed through the front tyres in no time at all
The car does seem a money pit lately, 2 CV boots and the EGR flap at £700+, now potentially this £1500 ESP deal....
How can I go about getting the Vag.com test done near Fareham, Hants. Dont really want to go VW as the quotes are very high just to plug in the diagnostics!
    TIA

    Tim

ps blimey reg'd 2007 and this is my 1st post LOL.

The ESP not functioning has no effect on the ABS and will not affect tyre wear unless you are driving the car in a completely on the edge manner, ESP is a last chance catch fence before you end up in a ditch, it may be a coincidence but having new CV boots fitted can adversely effect the alignment, I suggest the front wheel alignment is checked before you scrub out two new tyres. Almost any garage can do a fault code read and expect to pay around £30.
