Angry Does anyone have experience of the ESP warning light on the dash?

I have a 2004 Touran and the ESP lwarnng light shows permanently on the instrument panel. Recent diagnosis by VW dealer advises new ABS sender required; estimated cost 1500, yes 1500, including VAT and fitting (3.7 hrs), can anyone offer advice and help?

Well, it is true that when there is a problem in the ABS system then the ESP light is illuminated. They could be right, but if you could get a VAG-COM fault code read done to tell us what the problem is then that would be very helpful.

It wont be a sender but as Paul says, get the fault code number.
Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

I back down to someone with superior knowledge... yes, just get a fault code read done.

Re: Does anyone have experience of the ESP warning light on the dash?

My S3 had the ESP on all the time....well.....it was on all the time intermittently...so I took it to my boys (VAGTech) and it was a front pressure sensor...think they charged me less that 100...I was having all the brakes replaced at the same time, so the price was all a part of the bigger job.

But whatever it is, so pratting around with a dealer and get yourself a specialist!

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the interest you have shown in my problem. The only information I can get so far from the VW dealership is that the diagnosis came up as 0201 Sender ABS Control Unit

Can anyone let me know how to contact VW specilaists in my area? I don't seem to be able to find a decent website that does this.
