Interior lights not Working Bora TDi

Its driving me mad that the interior light does not come on when I open the drivers door on my 2000 Bora. It works when I open it with the central locking, but does not work when I open the door, and the lights on warning buzzer and kerb lights in the doors dont work either!!!

I have looked to locate a switch on the door that would activate these but there doesnt seem to be a one visible. I was hoping it would be an easy repair like on my Vectra, but obviously not.

Can anyone shed any light onto what and where I should be looking for the switch that operates these?

i have the excact same problem with my 03 bora. checked all the fuses they seem fine. was looking for quick fix also. dont fancy going to the dealer.

I guess it's down to the car not knowing the door has actually been opened, in which case I believe there is a switch within the door latch mechanism that detects this. Dismantling and removing it is the way forward. Do both front doors exhibit the same behaviour? If so, the answer could lie elsewhere...

The micro switch is part of the door lock

I have a similar problem - the back lights switch on, and so do the kurb lights, but the front lights (near the rear view mirror) dont. Ive got some problems with the driver side lock anyway so it might be a problem with that
