The flywheel has developed a noise on my A4 130 Tdi 70k. It has been diagnosed as the dual mass fly wheel coming adrift. Despite the arguments for/against solid mass flywheels, this is what I intend to replace the dual mass one with. The dual mass appear not to have been the best of developements and more and more makers are installing them, for obvious reasons, to make money when they malfunction and they do.
My problem is trying to find a solid mass for my A4. Is there such a thing available, is the question. If so, who is selling them? I have been through the normal channels/websites etc and cannot locate one.

Valeo does a replacement solid flywheel to replace the dual mass one wich will work with Valeo clutches. You will find that the cars big end bearings wont last long and it will be very shaky, the active mounts will let go as well ! Unless the car is a heap i would not advise you to replace it with that. Fit a new oem (Sachs or Luk) flywheel and a new clutch kit and you will thank me for that. A corrado vr6 solid flywell and clutch might fit as well according to chaps on www.tdiforum.com . Do a search on that forum as the yankees done it long time ago.

The DMF was developed as a refinement improvement, not as a means of making money on spare parts.
