    Hi there,

I've got a 2001 Passat TDI (PD engines) saloon. I've reciently been fingered on the Licence Plate lights not working on the car which was a "doh!" moment.

    - I changed the bulbs since they looked a bit black, but are all ok.

    - checked the fuse (number 4 in the panel), and that seems ok. Checked all other fuses for the hell of it, but they seem ok too.

    - checked all lights on the car (with my mother checking while I try them, which prob not the best idea in itself...lol), they seem ok too.

I'm a bit at a loss to where to go from here. Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks

    Max

    Hi Max,
I had this problem prior to mot time,if you take out the bulbs and use wd 40 with a wire brush or even an old toothbrush to clean the contacts. If this doesn't help, use something a little more abrasive like some wet n dry emery paper if this results in success give the contacts a light coating of vaseline this will stop any further corrosion .Vaseline can also be used on battery terminals and also the brake pad pins, invaluable stuff, well good luck and hope this helps out , Calum
