GOLF TDI 2000 "HIGH MILEAGE" Question

I'm about to purchase a 2000 golf TDI and my only concern is the high mileage. The odometer reads 250 000. This to me, please remember im a first time VW owner, seems exceptionally high. Its a diesel engine and the car seems in exceptional shape.

Any thoughts??

My uncle had a passat on 240,000 miles and that worked just fine, so don't let the milage put you off. As long as the car has a full service history and a recipets for all the work done and the parts replaced. take it for a test drive see how it feels and make sure there are no blue smoke and not to much black smoke when you pull off the mark.

That is a lot of miles for an 8 year old car, remember, its not just the engine thats done 240 K, the rest of the car has aswell, an extended test drive, a few hours, would be a good idea, if thats possible.

Id ask lots of questions about a car with this much milege and would require proof of regular servicing if all that adds and it drives nice your good to go..

Makes my 130k seem small on 'V'plate 2000!
Full history a must,bills for parts replaced and ask if it's been on motorway's most of it's lfe or town driving.as above check for smoke and rattles,brakes,gear box, sloppiness on the gear lever.Just usual things but if it's all in good order go for it!
If in doubt walk away or if you know a mechanic or have a dealership nearby and the seller is genuine they won't mind you having someone look over it.
