I have a vw passat on a 51 plate and have trouble opening the boot.
The boot DOES open when i insert the key in the key hole and unlock it. However it DOES NOT open when I use the remote key fob and also doesn't open when I use the 'boot opening switch' which is on the driver side door panel next to the switch which opens the petrol cap.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated

    Hi,

Might be an idea to strip down the panel to access the boot lock, as sounds like the electrics aren't working on the lock, when you can manually open it with key. Check the wiring going into the lock.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers

Most likely to be the solenoid in the boot lid.THis is operated by the keyfob and drivers door switch.
