    Hi Guys,

This is my first post as I am thinking of buying a X Reg a6 2.7T, its done 41000 ONLY which i have had it confirmed at the ********, I come from a BMW background and thought i would try a Audi, although we do still have a couple of BM's . Just really after some advise on what to look out for, or known problems which might cost the earth, If i do get it the first thing to come off is the exhaust will replace it with Sports cats and a full system from the Turbo's if we can get to them easily, then i think a trip to chipped uk for some remapping, a nice of set of 20's.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

The dreaded Plenum Chamber fault, where the passenger side footwell fills with water and ruins your electrics can occur mostly on pre 2002 models. However there was a recall and this one may have already been in for the recall. I am not sure what the full criteria is to enable the car to qualify for one so... Anyway simple way around it is when you do your typical 10k service, just clear some leaves or alike from beneath the brake servo if there is anything there. If nothing there don't worry.

I have sold 2 of these in the past, one nearly 100k, the other nearly 90k, no problems for the customer.

Although 1 customer sold it because he coouldn't afford to keep replacing the discs and pads, and thought it was drinking too much fuel (you put those together!!!!).

So no probs I am aware off (apart from that mentioned above).

Good luck - they are awesome! Mine is a Y had 39000 when I bought it a year ago. Do look at the plenum chamber, although its quite simple to fix, its a pain if its not.

They do drink fuel - but they are mighty fun when they do!

I picked up a 2.7T Quattro Auto on Friday. 2002 with 67k on the clock and FASH. Big smile on face for the last three days

M25 / M11 trip back from the dealer to home the on board computer registered 36mpg although I had the cruise set at only 70mph all the eway. That's a pretty flat trip though.

Between London and Cambridge this morning, which is much more up hills and down dales, recorded 30mpg driving at 70mph on cruise and a bit of town driving each end.

I was also a BMW fan but this is a really great car and i am loving it!

Your mpg is a lot better than mine.

I traded in my 2.4 A6 Quattro for my current 2.7T A6 Quattro sport, and I have to say - Why the hell did I buy the 2.4 in the first place?

This thing is awesome and it does more to the gallon than the 2.4
