Hi..........new to this forum........apologies in advance for any erors I may make......

I have just booked my A2 1.4 tdi into an Audi specialist garage in Leamington Spa, for its 2nd MOT. I have been told I may need my cam belt replaced. The car has 48,700 miles on the clock, registered '53. It is due for a service in 2200 miles.......... Do I really need it the cam belt replacing? I am very mistrustful of all things Audi...........

    Many Thanks

Sounds about right. If there is any doubt, I change it in case the car has been clocked. In this day and age it is possible.

    Hi Clarek
There is no time set on the Audi cambelts, only milage. VW, however recommend the cambelt is changed after four years. Though this is a recommendation only and is not set in the service schedule.
If you read your service schedule book it will tell what should be replaced both according to time and milage.
    Hope this helps

A lot. A2s are notoriously difficult to work on. You would have to take the bonnet, grilles, bumpers, everything off which would be a lot of labour. I did the cam belt replacement on my own A6, which I posted pictures and everything about in the A6 section. Search for "timing belt experience" and you may find it.

Hi there, i was quoted £250 - £300 for a cambelt change on my 2003 Audi A2 TDI, i have 57k on the clock and will be taking it into the garage next week. I use a specialist VW/Audi garage in Cardiff, from all the thing i have read the quality of service there and the specialist knowledge i wouldn't trust Audi with a barge pole!

My A2 TDI Sport is 5 years old, with 27000mls on the clock Lincoln Audi quoted me over £600 for a cambelt replacement, I said I`d think about it, a week or two later I received a card from Audi offering all in replacement for £329, it`s booked in but I am somewhat miffed that Audi and their dealers are treating customers like this.
