Just changed my cam belt and right at the end of the job i came across this bolt!!

I have racked my brains trying to think if i took it out or not.
I've looked at the haynes manual and traced back my steps....
any ideas as it looks pretty important

i took the front bumper off and dropped the radiator and frontpanel etc down to get to the bottom 4 bolts in the pulley.

it's an 8mm thread with a 13mm hex head 25mm long thread from under the head
the washer appears to have a witness mark like you find on an adjustable bracket and it has belt soot over the head and washer.

it looks like the ribbed v belt lower tensioner retaining bolt or the cam pulley has three bolts the same as this and if you have followed the correct procedure you would have loosened these but not removed to allow for belt movement when removing and installing, theres one other possibility and thats the lower front engine mount support which has two simmilar bolts that secure the casing to the lock carrier, but you shouldnt need to remove this.

have another look at the previous answer as there is a picture of the lock carrier from the outer but there are two bolts on the inner for the lower engine support and have you got a/c compressor as the belt adjuster is either a allen key or 13mm bolt

yea Air con was 6mm cap heads for adjustment,

the lock carriers were all torx 45 head but there were 4 on the drivers side and 2 on the passenger side, could they use a hex head as one of these bolts?, seems a bit short against the torx they were all 50mm+ long. dammed if i can remember using a 13mm socket to get one off.

ok ill sleep easier knowing that its not critical to the cam belt operation, will have a look when its not bagging down with rain and hale. pretty sure that number 11 is in place and doesnt have such a big washer behind it.

    thanks for your help.
