I having a hands free kit fitted next week and they have asked me to have the radio code to hand. However I have checked all my paperwork and the little car pass which has all the data on is missing. I've spoken to the garage where I bought the car and they handed everything over
ive spoken to audi today and they want £25 to get the code for me, I have to take the car in whilst they do something which allows them to get the code from Germany

does anyone know of any other way to get hold of the code?

The only dealer that ever charged me for a radio code was a Citroen dealer, try a different dealer

Mine was also written in the front of the owners manual on my C5. On this car, I'm sure there isn't a code. Pretty sure my wife's a4 doesn't have a code. Definitely nothing on the plastic key fob.

I'm sure I didn't make this up but I seem to remember that as long as the stereo goes back in that car it won't need a code.
Thats how it was when I put a BT kit in the GF's '12 VW Polo anyhow.
    When it's gone it's gone

I agree with Pork above. The head unit will not need to be coded for replacement in the same car.

Thanks all, I've spoken to a different Audi garage which is near home rather than work and they said they would get the code and give my car a full health check for a tenner. I'll think I'll get it anyway so I have a record of it in case I ever get any issues where I may need the code, plus given I have just bought the car it won't hurt for audi to give it a once over in case they pick anything up which will be convered by warranty. I'm sure there won't be anything but for a tenner I may as well get it checked.

Original radio won't need a code. Health checks are free too.

    as stated, no code required.

The car and radio are hard-coded or "paired" together, as long as it's put back into the same car it will just work, if it's put into a different car, component protection will kick in and need to be removed by the dealer to get it working
