The microswitch is F2 ( part of the lock ) The diagram shows that the wire connected to this does not go via the 15 pin connector or to J429. Does anyone know where it goes. Regards Peter

F2 connects to track 131 which feeds the door warning and entry lights. These in turn go to track 52 and 18 which goes through a connector into J429.

check the switch, it proabably still works, the rubber pad will have come of the switch and it will now be missing the striker, you can remove it from the latch assembly pretty easily, i buffed the 2 locating pins off my switch and moved it towards the striker

    regards

    Andy

Never mind tracks & connectors, it's the mechanical operation of the microswitch (or lack of it) that's your problem. I was able to repair it on my first A6 as it was only stuck down but was actually broken on the current A6. The microswitch would be a run of the mill type available from RS Components or Maplins except half of the plastic body is special to Audi with two locating pins as bagpipingandy has said. It may be possible to find the standard switch (the one on my first A6 was made by Burgess) & combine the two halves of the body. More likely is to cut the two wires, (leave all the length on the lock side - it's hard wired in) & splice solder in a standard switch without the locating pins & devise your own way of locating/securing it. I know this has been done & isn't too difficult. Alternatively, you can replace the whole lock assembly which, IMHO (through experience) is definitely the best way to go - albeit the most expensive (around £120, although you can get cheaper on ebay - I just wouldn't trust them). I fitted a new lock mechanism three months ago and Audi have now modified the troublesome area so it is now better engineered. The likelyhood is that your whole lock mechanism will have seen better days & is very capable of causing some serious problems, eg. The door refusing to open & trying to sort that is not funny.

Have a look at this thread:
