After the posts in here I think I'm going to settle with the A6 BiTDI. I have the 2.0 TDI at the moment so it will be a nice enough upgrade

Different brand but based on my past experience choosing between an M5 touring and a 535d touring I support your decision!!! Plenty of power and economy. Remap it and it if like my 535d it will be an outside lane animal.

In the real world it will feel faster, in usual driving conditions. Yes if you go for a blast and drive the car hard an S6 will just beat a biturbo, but the shove in the back a biturbo can give at any time is addictive.......

I watch this review from time to time, slightly quirky, but best BiTdi video out there.

Oh, and to balance the argument the same guy has done a review of a bright red S6 too....

Good reviews, I agree the derv is the right choice, but I miss my petrol V8's, maybe spend the spare cash on renting the odd weekend exotica

For sheer driver involvement, hairs on the back of the hand raising fun, nothing beats a V8 imho.

It is on topic, it just appears to be getting a bit personal. A completely neutral view, I love the torque of a powerful diesel, but also love the sound and power of a big V8. Having driven both recently, the diesel does feel faster in everyday driving. However, if driving both hard and at their limit, a V8 sounds better and is faster. Depends what you're looking for. Personally, I drive a lot of "everyday" miles so the biturbo is right for me, if my car was kept in the garage a lot and just came out for special occasions it would be a V8 everytime.

Just in case anyone didn't already know, the biturbo is a fast, and extremely satisfying, car to drive, even without all the changes Jamie has made to his. I quite like how audi designed it and I quite like my warranty.
