Hi. Could someone tell me the part number for the electrical air con fan for a year 2000 A6 please. Need to replace but want to get the bits before dismantling the car! Thanks Perry

Top tip here but entirely sure it will work on an A6 but I'm very sure it will.....

Ask for a Passat B5 fan which, last time I bought one, was £40 from GSF with the later B5.5 Passat one costing £140. All you need to do is cut off and swap the plugs.

Take the old fan in with you to match them up.

They are easy to remove, there is a single grub screw on the perimeter, once out, twist the fan casing a bit and it is off. Then unclip the loom.

It is worth that extra bit of effort to save £100. I've had to replace these twice, once on each of the B5.5 Passats I've had and used this trick. Strangely the fan on my A6 was alright.

Hi, can I come in on this thread? I have got to change my air con fan that mounts onto the radiator shroud as well (1998A6). Does this one come off by twisting and will the Passat one work?

    They should do.

An easy way would be to do two part searches on eurocarparts or gsf for the A4/6 and then the Passat.

I'd be almost certain that they are the same electric fans on the 1.9 TDI's. The earlier Passat B5 fan though (last time I bought one) was significantly cheaper but you do have to cut the plugs off and swap them.
