Audi A1 Internal Fan/demister/heater problem

The internal fan to blow air/air-con/heat into the cabin has stopped working on speed 1, 2 or 3. The fan only works on speed 4 and blows very fast (as it should). Nothing happens when the fan is on speed 1, 2, or 3. Does anyone have any ideas? N.B. The switch is the basic 4 speed switch fitted to a 2010 A1 1.2 SE. It does not have electronic climate control.

It is the rheostat (fan resistor) that has failed buddy, cheap enough and very easy to replace on most models, generally if you take out the glove box it is plugged into the side of the heater box, a lot of them have a green covering on them.
